83sc ROW - temperature gauge not working
My temp gauge is not working...can drive for an hour and does not budge. Wondering what steps I should take in trying to determine what is going on before I replace the sensor?
Any guidance from someone who has had a similar problem appreciated. david |

Simple test is to ground the green/black wire at the sender. If the gauge goes to max when you have the wire terminal grounded to the case and the ignition in run, it is the sender.
If nothing happens, it could be the wire or the gauge. to test if it is the engine portion of the wiring pull the 14 pin plug at the rear fuse panel and ground the male pin #3 looking for same results. To test all wiring for an open, ground the green/black wire at the back of the gauge. To test wiring from gauge to sender connect an ohmmeter from the gauge green/black wire to the sender green/black terminal. To check Engine wire continuity test from 14 pin female pin3 to the sender wire terminal. If all wiring is good and the gauge doesn't move when the input is grounded then the gauge is the culprit. Hope that helps...
