radio cuts in and out, can't enjoy summer! help!

radio cuts in and out with static....it's damn annoying.

it's on a 83sc, Blaupunkt stereo cassette and pre-amp under seat....

i took the passenger seat out to expose pre-amp....all connections look good.

so many wires, where do I look? how do you pull radio out?
thanks.

Does the 83 have the antenna embedded in the windshield?

You're cruising around in a 911 and because your radio has static, you can't enjoy the summer?

Everyone should have your problems.

The embedded antenna has an amplifier that is a small black box which is harder then hell to reach. It is located just behind the passenger's side hood strut. The windsheild antenna wire plugs into it. It might have come loose. However, before you start the cussing and knuckle scraping trying to get at the box I would look at what I think your problem probably is. Someone probably forgot to hook up the antenna amplifier power wire when they installed the aftermarket stereo. I'm not postive but I believe there are two black wires that should connect to a power source. One is to power the radio and the other is the power for the antenna amp. They both should be located just behind the stereo. I bet the one for the antenna amp was not hooked up or hooked up incorrectly.

Does the cassette work without any static or do you get the same results?

the same problem happens with the radio as well as the cassette....is this an indicator that it's not the windshield antenna?
