Differences Between Momo Hub Adapters?
Specifically, I'm curious about the differences in the 0230 (73 and earlier) and the L231 (74 and on). I've spent a fair bit of time looking into this but haven't found anyone or any site that explains, specifically, the differences between these two adapters, e.g. spline size, etc. Even Momo's own site uses generic images and explains the differences only by saying which year-sets each adapter is for.
I just received a Momo wheel, purchased from a fellow Pelicanite, who was as clear as he could be that he was not certain which hub he had - although he thought he recalled it being from a pre-74 car. Not seeing an identifying part number on the adapter, I figured I might as well try it (on my 1980). It seems to fit perfectly; snug-but-not-overly tight fit when engaging the splines, what seemed to be the proper number of threads protruding through the splined portion, the steering column-end of the adapter is the same outside diameter as the factory setup, horn functions properly ... all good stuff, so I bolted it down. But ... since, over the years, I've found that the ability to steer one's car plays a fairly important role in driving dynamics and enjoyment, I want to make certain before hitting the road (versus other things), silly though might sound, given that the hub seems tailor-made for my car, that I'm not missing something. If I'd received an 0230 would it simply not fit, or obviously not be for a car that requires the L231? Thanks! Norm
