Need help!

Hello Guys, here is my question, how can I know if my engine case is a 911/83 where do I look to find it, is it mark anywhere in the case? I have a 1975 US Carrera that the case was replaced with a non stamped factory case if it is can I get the MFI parts to convert it as the European Carrera engine? The case is dark in color and looks pretty good, will appreciate any help, big thanks!

To the right of the fan housing by cylinder #4.

Getting the parts to make it MFI can be done if you can afford it.

If it is not stamped 911/83 where Sully has shown you, well, then it is not a 911/83 case! You could look at the casting numbers along the sides under the oil return tubes and see if it is a .7R case (or .2R or .3R, or .4R). That will tell you broadly what the basic casting was destined for, but not what motor was actually built on it. As interchangeable as many of the components are, and as many of these motors have been apart and monkeyed with, you really never know what you've got until you take it apart. Have a quick look at the flat area by the thermostat just in case you've got a 2 liter 914/6 case. Those motors were stamped there instead of by the fan housing and occasionally have fooled a guy into thinking he has an unstamped replacement case.
