Post Operation: Disected CDI box

Ok, last night I started on this project, rebuilding Bosch ignition box. My box has been acting strangely always, sometimes it just dies and starts to keep this "strange" whining noise, irregular one. If you hit it, it works and starts to whine normally.

The cursed box left me in middle of road in center of the city where I live. Guess how humiliating that was.

It was time to do an operation. -> Replacing all the resistors, 30 year old condensators, and put new transistors in place. There are other components on the circuitboard that are not recognisable, but can't help with those.

Here are some picture of the disection:

Ah, yes, I am putting a red/green led on the CDI (just for fun) to indicate that the box is getting juice.

So that's what the inside of that thing looks like. I can imagine what it feels like for it to leave you stuck. Happened to me a week and a half ago. You are braver than me however, I just ordered a MSD unit and new plug wires from Magnecor. Wish I had the smarts (and patience, and place to etc.) to do something like your doing.

Hmm, it seems that some of the parts are obsolete, like it was with the RPM transducer. The transistors ON200A (2M3) are no longer available and also there is no information whatsoever about those.

I have a CD box that is off my running 2.0 motor. It's out of a 914/6. Interested?
