Engine stalls/cuts out when cold
I am currently having an issue where for the first few minutes of driving before everything is warm when I slow down at an intersection and put the clutch in the revs drops to zero and car stalls .
This has only just happened upon getting it back from the mechanic who fix the rough idle due to spacers corroded on the manifold. They adjusted some settings on the DME to match australian specifications as it was an uk import So is the issue DME, ICV, head temp sensor or something else |

What year is your car? Since it didn't do this before, look for something SIMPLE. If it's a late 80's carrara make sure the three vertical connectors on the left side of the engine are connected. Also check all connectors and hoses are attached.
The only settings on the DME are a rotary switch that can richen or lean the engine, or increase/decrease ignition timing. Normally this switch is set to zero (no adjustment) by turning it fully counterclockwise. Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 365k miless |

ICV should keep the idle up. you cant try cleaning it. i dont know if a bad CHT sender would cause this. make sure it is connected
also, unplug the battery for a little while, let the DME relearn its settings. you may of had an air leak. my question is why would a mechanic let it out of his shop doing this???

You need to take it back and have it adjusted again. Last edited by stlrj; 11-06-2013 at 10:37 AM.. |
