click-clack noise when reving up - 1986 930

hi,
bought recently a 1986 930 US. The car has been sitting outside for more than a year, also not started for long time.
now, trying to bring it back on the read and came across a strange click-clack noise when reving up the engine. most of the times when engine is turned off this "clack" noise shows up too.

pls look into video and share your thoughts... it has "limited" quality but gives a clue about what i am asking about i guess...

any ideas?

thanks!
Krzysztof

First thing that comes to mind is the silicone washer bumper is shot. At the bottom of the pipe next to the pipe that feeds the intercooler

That noise is the sound of the diverter valve piston smacking against its housing end caps when you are suddenly closing the throttle - this happens when the washers/bumpers at each end harden and fall apart. The following is a detailed thread on that unit (although one of the posters, James Brown, gives out some wrong information about how the system on the 930 works) -

Changing 930 dump-gaskets, pictures galore

Yep, you need two number sevens.

Apologies if you have already thought of this, but since you will need to remove the intercooler and the diverter valve housing, you need to make sure you have a supply of both sizes of intercooler o-rings and the larger o-ring that goes on the neck of the throttle body. I always order more than I need in case I manage to tear one of the new ones when installing (very easy to do).

small intercooler o'rings = 99970147340
large " " = 99970146940
o'ring between diverter valve housing and throttle body = 99970147740
