930 Steering Wheel - Real or Repro

This is the wheel in my car, is it real or repro. Either way it feels frigging perfect. Cheers.

PS, apologies for the nice hairy knees!

Agreed. That is the factory 930s wheel.

Nope. Many threads on this. That's an Aitwe KB70111 wheel supplied by Techquipment (Porsche's aftermarket shop).

It wasn't actually fitted to many of the 930S cars, although the factory did use it as OE on the 968 Club Sport.

Aitwe also sell it as the Formel 360 wheel, or the Indianapolis. But then it doesn't come with the embossed crest on the horn pad.

I actually have that Atiwe wheel, and the repro sold through Pelican. Both are nice. I also have the early 930s/Sonderwunsch wheel made by Italvolanti. I like that one best, but it is not as pretty as the later wheel. The leather on the Tequipment wheel also feels a little better than the one from Pelican.

Since you seem to be quite knowledgeable about steering wheels, do you know where I can get a horn repair kit for the Italvolanti wheel?

Thanks all for the clarification. I really like the feel of the wheel; the leather is butter. Before I held it I'd actually contemplated selling it for a Prototipo for purely esthetic reasons. I think I'll keep it as is.

Just use it.

The 930 wheel is so much more comfortable than stock.

Enjoy!

Just installed a 930s style wheel I bought used here. I don't care if it is real or a repo, it looks and feels great!

As I'm still contemplating a prototipo I've been looking for the value of my current wheel. Is the price asked in the eBay link below crack pipe or is that the value of a new wheel?

Thanks.

Nice wheel! Long pants will reduce the number of scared kids screaming when you walk into the room, thinking Sasquatch has come to abduct them......I will be here all day, thanks and remember to tip often!

At least it wasn't my back? Any way I've tried looking for a for sale thread with exactly this wheel and haven't found one so I'm still trying to get a feel for a good asking price. Any ideas? And no a bit of lint, a chicklette and seven cents isn't it.

$750 includes the hub. I have them in my '79 911 and '87 928. They are very comfortable. Our host sells them too - ask for Kenny!

Anyone know where to source the horn button. My wheel was used with a quick release in a race car and the button was carefully set aside for a few years, never to be seen again.

I was looking at this the other day. Was the installation difficult? Did it require anything other than the hub that came with it?
