Oil temp sender removal

Quick question. Is there a special tool for use when removing the oil temperature sender (82SC) from the case while motor is in the car. Can't find anything in my tool chest that will work. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the temp sender or the oil pressure sender? The oil pressure sender can be done in the car but you really need to remove the AC compressor and bracket out of the way.

Picture with arrow or pencil pointing to the device you want to remove would help.

Thanks for the help JAR. Yes, the temperature sender. Looking for a tool or technique to remove it in the car. Can sacrifice the old sender with a chisle and hammer. Don't really want to do that. Has to be a less distructive way.

No problem, I use chisel and hammer all the time when I build furniture…

Not found in the tool roll either

Or take an old box end wrench and bend it to the correct shape to clear the oil pressure sender.

Offset box end wrenches are underrated. I consistently find myself pulling them vs. others. -J

remove the a/c bracket and do it right. the sender mounts on a steel block and it's bittchin tight usually. clamp the block in a vise and have at it. highly recommended to not try it with a crowfoot while attached to the engine. there have been a few sorry souls who broke the case in the process, so don't be one of them. read this...Broke of piece of metal, how to fix? jb weld horror story.

Wouldn't try to remove the oil pressure sender while on the car. Remove the whole thing and do in a vice. That sucker is on tight.

good luck , shouldnt be much of an issue ...
do it when the engine is cold as you will get a bit of a burp and cold oil flows slower, just get ready with the new sender and sealing washer..

Just got a 20% off flyer from HF which should reduce the sting. Appreciate the encouragement ICE

Thumbs up Oil temp sender

Bingo! Within 5 minutes of my return from HF the old sender was out and the new one in. Never had a set of offset box but I do now. Had completely forgot about this utility tool until JAR jogged my memory. Thanks for all your help. Now out for a drive to check it out.
