356 speedster engine

Hello,

I know it's not a typical 911 topic, but this way I can reach more people.....

I'm wondering what it's worth. I have an engine case with following number:

P67458 it came from a Speedster from Oct.'57
enginetype 616/1 1600/60hp

This is confirmed by Porsche Germany that it originates from a speedster.

Can anyone tell me the value or potential value please? Or is anyone in need for this number because he owns the matching car with this case?
BR

You don't give enough information about the engine. Complete? Just a case? Freshly rebuilt? Condition unknown? Etc.

So, a pointless post that wastes time on a forum where it doesn't belong. Sorry to be harsh but I get sick of off-topic posts on this forum. Seems to be more and more common.

My suggestion would be to ask this same question, with much more detail, on a forum that is about the 356. Perhaps the 356 registry folks could offer some assistence. Or, use the internet to find a broker, or two, that has the sales of 356 cars as their main vocation. Or, find a few restoration shops that specialize in 356 restorations and ask them. I've sold rare engines to shops like that.

True, it's the wrong forum but how is it wasting anyone's time. when it clearly says its a question about a "356 speedster engine"
In my opinion, if you don't want to waste your time, don't bother reading this post

Couldn't have said it better myself. For God's sake, give the guy a break. He just asked a simple question! Since when have we become such sticklers? "If it's not strictly 911 technical, stay off the forum!" Come on man.

I was going to suggest you try the 356 forum here, but after checking it looks like you posted the same question there about three minutes before you posted here.

And it's already been answered (took all of 6 minutes) and the answer was, it's not worth much. There are a couple guys looking for engine cases on the 356 registry forum, so maybe that's a better place to try and sell it.
