looks like it was installed backwards - there's supposed to be a hole thru the cap so you can thread into the shaft. maybe glue some jb weld on to pull the cap off?

Chuck is correct. You need to get that plastic cap off. Then you will see a threaded hole on the top of the shaft. You will need to get a bolt that will thread into the hole, and be long enough to allow you to grab it with pliers and pull up to remove the shaft. I hope I said that clearly.

I can't really tell from your pic - is the center 'cap' or 'shaft'? If it's shaft, then the shaft is installed backwards. If it's cap, then you may be able to punch or drill thru the cap to get to the threads in the shaft.

Now, you could have both the cap AND the shaft installed backwards... :-(

Looks like the inboard bearing cup was put on the outboard side. The outboard bearing has a hole in the cup to allow you to insert an M6 bolt into the shaft and pull it out. Drill thru the bearing cup to let you see if the end of the shaft is properly oriented to get a M6 bolt in there.

BTW, yes the mod was done on your trans. The telltale sign is the metal retaining tab that is separate from the shaft assembly. The original crappy shaft arrangement had the tab permanently attached/welded to the shaft.

punch a hole in the center of it, insert a screw and pull it out. get the proper bearing with the hole for reassembly.
