Is the Tip installed in the Boxster the same as the Tip in a 911 or is there different variations of the tranny depending on the application.
Has the tranny had any major changes or upgrades since its introduction and what years did these changes take place. Is there any thing to look at specifically when testing a car with the Tip, any indicators of trouble that's coming up. Generally speaking, how reliable are these transmissions, you don't hear much about them. I'm starting a search for a car for the wifey, probably be a Box but I'm also looking at some 996's too and was looking for an education. Any Tip experts out there? Finn

Better to ask this in either the Boxster or 996/997 forums, not the air-cooled area.
