Question AC fanbelt challenges

Hi all, I got the above after searching the site. Thanks Keuhl. My question is, do you have to completely remove bolts/nuts 1,2 and 3. With mine I think I may have to in order to fit my fanbelt back on because I can't slide the compressor close enough to put the belt back on.

Any tips?

You should be able to slip a new belt on by just loosening the three bolts and loosening the adjuster bolt all the way. What size belt are you using? Try a longer belt.

Belt change.

The correct P/N for our '86 is:

999-192-176-50 Fan Belt 9.5 x 710 mm.

Here are pics from the PET:

Johann,

Assuming you have an SC with stock York, the belt size is usually a 13x1100,
original pn 900 192 027 50.

Loosen 13mm head bolts 1,2,3.
Loosen 13mm head nut 4 so the slider plate moves all
the way to the left.

If the belt won't come off the pulley you then remove
bolts 1 through 3, tilt the compressor with its slider plate
toward the left, slip off the belt.

Sorted! Removed all three and the belt went in to place with a bit of jiggling! NVH levels have improved from an in cabin perspective too! thanks all.

The air "conditioning" part - not so much! lol.

So everything seems to be operational. What's the best bang for buck improvement other than a potential regass? My last regass was probably february last year. how long should it last?

I was thinking a new evaporator? mines pretty banged up. at the risk of starting WW3..........
