Which lubricants to use when refitting o-rings/grommets ect...

Before replacing my cylinder head temperature sensor I read several posts that recommended Vaseline for lubricating the grommets before refitting them.

I thought that Vaseline was not water based and can attack rubber so I used KY Jelly instead which is water based and supposedly safe on rubber (good job considering its intended use).

I am refitting my injectors soon (89 3.2) and have been advised to lubricate the o-rings so they go in more easily. As these are a little more important than the grommets I thought I'd solicit opinions on what others would use and what is safe/unsafe to use on rubber components, especially the o-rings.

Cheers

Andy
