Rotor bolt pattern?
I was just looking around online for possible replacement front rotors for my 84. While the super brake kit zimmerman rotors are on my project list, I found some Raybestos for a few bucks cheaper of course, and even some centric but with the dreaded drilled holes.
What really made me curious tho was the the specs on those both were 5 x 126. Product - Raybestos Brakes ELECTRONIC CATALOG - MULTIMEDIA FORM But shouldn't they be the same as the wheels, 5x130? How can they say they are a Porsche fitment when they are off 4 mm? When I check on PP descriptions, they don't list the pattern spacing. What am I missing? I guess this is why one should just stick to using Pelicans suggested options unless you have a lot of experience. Last edited by redstack; 12-26-2013 at 10:04 PM.. Reason: repeat of word in title |

The Porsche pattern is 5 x 130; hubs, rotor & rims.
You are right to be concerned. Braking is far to important to cheap out on substandard parts.

The Carrera rotors made by Zimmerman or Balo are very good and inexpensive. Why use a substandard (to factory) metal rotor to save a few bucks? I've run the Balo's on my Carrera, 996 and Boxster and have been very happy with them.

Don't always assume brands we're not accustomed to on the Porsche are substandard. Raybestos makes very good brake parts, so long as you choose the premium quality category and not the economy crap.
Incidentally I ordered some closeout 964 front Raybestos pro grade rotors from "The Rock" and they turned out to be re-branded Sebro rotors. Sebro are similar to Zimmerman and Balo- good German OE brands. So since the 964 premium rotors were Sebro, I wouldn't be surprised if those rotors he's looking at are Sebro also. The front rotors do not have the same bolt spacing as the lugs/wheels. I would trust that 126mm dimension as being correct. Take a look at the front hub and you can see the M8 bolts that fasten the rotor to the hub are oh so slightly further inward than the M14 wheel studs. The rear rotors are however 5x130 since the rotor is a slip-fit hubcentric installation where the lug studs pass through the rotor hat.
