Need more details on rebuilding starter solenoid
So I took my starter out, regreased the bearings in the starter motor, spins nicely, and removed the solenoid. I desoldered the wiring coming from inside the solenoid, and removed the cap. I read about an "x" shaped contact, but I don't have that. I just have what looks to be a hand made piece of copper shaped like a straight line. I also don't see how there could be any sort of X shaped contact, as there is plastic inside the solenoid that prevents any such shape from existing.
Anyway... what now? What exactly do I regrease in the solenoid, and what type of grease? Dielectric grease? High temp? ??? Again, I searched but i could find no answers. |

Right, I'm at that point, but I've read of people "relubing" the solenoid... that doesn't really have any info on that part. What part do I lube, exactly?

Forgot to update this post: Slapped some fresh lube on the solenoid, reassembled, reinstalled, BAM. Problem solved. Way cheaper than a new starter.
