Msd tach adapter
Hello everyone. I've been reading this forum for several years and really didn't have much to add till now. Or rather anything to ask. I have a 76 turbo. To make a long story short the coil went bad, age I guess, fried the CDI unit. So doing a little research I went with the MSD6AL. Naturally the tach didn't work so I ordered the tach adapter which may be the wrong one. It is 8910EIS. The wires it has are a red, black, and 2 greens that go into a plug. Is this the wrong adapter or can I make this one work? This is driving me nuts.

I have a 75 turbo with the MSD6-al in an 81 SC. My tach works without the tach adp. Are you sure it is hooked up right?

I went into the archives and from what I gathered it depends on the year car you have as to whether you need an adaptor or not. I'd bet my old 76 has a different ignition system or tach than your 81. I did find an article describing how to wire it up. That thread talked about a red, a black, a white, and a violet wire which the 8910EIS does not have. Anyone have any ideas?

I think I hooked up the old wire from the tach to the spot on the MSD box and it worked. Do you have said tach wire? Did your old cd box have 6 wires?

FWIW, a 1980 911SC needs no adapter.
