I made a template to use for gluing Porsche lettering on my 964 deck lid. It took hours of research and measuring off photos and friend's 1970 911T. Mine came out nice. If anyone is interested. cheers.

I would really appreciate if you can share your template with me, I need to do the lettering on my 72E (converted to 73 RSR) soon.

Well I've been using some spare time to sell off some stuff - one of them was the original deckld from the Project. It's going to PP user "UWON" and he's planning to add lettering and asked if I could make a template.

I cam up with the idea of using glad press-n-seal as a release layer between the decklid and masking tape:

Note the letters aren't in a stright line, they have a slight arc. Not to mention the posts are in somewhat random locations, making it tough to transfer the locations. Last time I did this to the Aluminum lid on Project Heavy Metal it took forever doing it with transferring measurements. This was far easier and way more accurate.

This gave the template a 3D shape and allowed me to trim to the edges and get the alignment perfect on the "new" lettered lid:

For Johan, a glamour shot for inspiration:

Just an FYI for anyone needing to do this in the future. This worked great. In case it wasn't totally clear, the press-n-seal goes directly on the pattern lid, then you put the strips of masking tape on that to make the 3D pattern.
