1973 911 engine fan hub - rivet question
Does anyone know the original/correct size of the aluminum rivets that secure the center hub to the engine cooling fan? Thanks!

There is a member here who restores these fans and advertises here in the classifieds. He would know. Try searching there.

Did you ever find out about the rivets?

Just noticed that Supertec sells an aftermarket fan hub which attaches to the fan with countersunk allen-head bolts and nuts:

Google or Search here for Mark Motshagen. He rebuilds these things (and did mine) and surely can help you.

Fan rivet

Nice photo.. i just took my fan apart to clean and plate.. I might try to find some bolts with the correct head shape and use those instead of rivets. Last edited by mikedsilva; 08-12-2017 at 02:26 PM.. |

Dumb question here but why would you need to separate the hub from the fan. Next dumb question what is wrong with the OE fan hub? I could not find any info on the supertech web site
Thanks David |

I regularly repair fans and fan housings for members all over the world. Most times they take the hub out becuase they want to replate the hub and use cerakote on the fan.. I know I have the mcmaster part number for the rivets somewhere but I chose to use stainless countersunk bolts like supertec does.. Below is one of my repaired fans. ![]()

Thanks..
I primarily repair areas that are chipped and cracked. I specialize is welding magnesium ,aluminum, and stainless steels.. .. I then blend them to look as undetectable as possible and sand blast and paint with cerakote. The plating of the hubbis done by a local company.. Overall an inexpensive visual upgrade.
