Personally I dont like the fogs and I am considering the clean look for my 87 Targa.

I also dumped the idea of adding fog standard lights to my all original '79 Targa. Especially since they don't seem to do anything. I like my front just the way it looks. I did switch to H4's though, much better light and even better looks.

Just finished placing this "Clubsport" valance from Rennspeed on my 1987 3.2 Carerra. No more fog lights to hassle with.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1391301950.jpg

Now you guys got me thinking of taking my fog lights off. I've never used them were it seemed to make a difference.

Stephen-911SC 02-01-2014 04:56 PM

I removed mine after 1) I found out it was an expensive fix if the glass got broken 2) I started a moderate weight-loss program (for the car, not me) and 3) realized that I didn't really like the looks/aesthetic of the fogs. I plugged the holes with some plastic plugs from Ace Hardware and painted them body color. Hardly noticeable. I left all the switches and wires in place in case I ever changed my mind. I don't regret removing them for a second.

I'm a stock all the way kind of guy. Since so many folks hate the stock fogs, anyone want to sell me theirs? Looking for my '76 which is missing these.

PM me!

Appreciate all the thoughts and pics. Guess I'll have to start driving it around again and decide.

that was "the style" for 3 years of the 80s, with the carrera being used for the other 7. 7 > 3.

Looks great.... I see myself going down that slippery slope too !!

Deleted the fogs (how often do we get fog in AZ?) and had the license plate holes filled prior to paint. I like the smooth look.

I don't have a picture, but I found a black plastic plug to fill the spot in the dash vacated by the fog switch. It looks factory.

Where did you get the plug? Curious as I might do the same...

Someone posted this link in another hole-plugging thread:

Fog Delete - not to worry - still have all the original lower front end in the attic.
(The car has become quite desireable - thanks to Magnus :) )

I have an 82 SC with the stock fog lights. Am thinking about rewiring and using them as day time lights. Anyone do this? Not sure how hard to get this done.

Scott S 02-03-2014 11:03 AM

Here is mine. Love the clean look.

Bkreigsr - that car looks very mean..... love it.

Oh ok, didn't realize it was that simple! :)
I got some of those plugs from Ace for the exterior fog light holes, wasn't sure if there was something "nicer" for the interior.

Go with H4's on relays and get the 85W bulbs from Steve Weiner. You will no longer need your fogs.
