Don't like my fogs
What to do? different valance? Just take them off?

Take them off.
I hate mine, too. I'd love to do something useful with the holes created from taking them out. Additional ducting for oil cooling? For running another front AC condenser? I think there must be a good use for those holes, other than crap foglights. |
yup just paint some plugs. you can get that stuff at any hardware or autoparts store

Mine will be gone when I get around to painting the car. Absolutely worthless. Cr@p light output (even for fog lights, for which I always have low expectations), and yet expensive to repair if a rock breaks a lens.
Since my valance is bent and has filler from previous repair, I will just replace it with a new CS-style. |

I would keep them. I like the stock look. Your car looks great just the way it is!!
|
Why not a 3.2 valance? At least the fogs don't look like an after thought. And you get a cutout for air to the front oil cooler.
|
delete 'em.
i did too. one I was stock-look convinced too. but today Im happy, as it gives the front a nicer, clearner look. who need fogs on a fun-car anyway? rubber plugs for the holes. |
Even cheaper than buying a repro valance, just have a body shop get rid of all the holes for you. If you don't run a front plate, lose those holes, too. While you're at it, remove the gravel guard sprayed on the inside. You'll end up with a nice little weight loss and you'll never miss the fog lights.

JR - I had thought about welding up the holes myself.
Maybe I'll look at them when it ever warms up. Ars deep in an engine replacement at the moment. Todd |
i changed my SC to the later style valance and i am quite happy. the stock sc fogs, to me, always looked like someone at the factory forgot to install them, caught it at the last minute and stuck them on.

This is my 1980 SC. I used to run a late 80's valence with the fogs tucked in. A few rocks took care of that idea. Instead of replacing the fogs, I replaced the valence with an earlier version that had just the holes for the "outboard" fogs. I had a friend weld up the holes and did some body work and then sprayed it with rhino liner from a rattle can. (easy cause the car is black). I also drilled out the struts and tucked the bumper. I made an air scoop for the passenger side "extra" side marker space with schedule 40 PVC and plexiglass, epoxy, bondo, and wrapped it in carbon fiber looking vinyl. I used the vinyl to wrap the driver side marker light since it was half hidden by the bumper tuck into the accordions. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1391275341.jpg

Personally, I like the fogs. My '74 does not have them but I may add the "built in" fogs that are on the Carrera valence, some day.
If you really hate yours, you could get a '74 valence and then add the spoiler lip. Here's mine (no spoiler lip), wish I had one. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1391285729.jpg |
