1976 911S w/thermal reactors - Heat exchanger flange - Thin or thick

On a 1976S that came with thermal reactors, is the flange on the heat exchanger thin or thick?

What heat exchangers will bolt right on? Years? Models?

Will any of them give a HP gain?

Anyone know the weights of SSIs vs factory heat exchangers? Looking to lose some wt.

Thanks

Thick flange with "gasket savers" (section of header extends up into exhaust port)

'74 style SSIs will work

I have a pair of thermal destroyer replacement headers. Use your heat exchangers and muffler. These occupy the same footprint as the thermal reactors, nice quick fix until you decide to go SSIs or headers. $100.00 plus shipping..

ClickClickBoom,

I am thinking my current heat exchangers also need to be replaced, so will pass on what you are offering.

Thanks

Sorry for any confusion. The term "74 style" is often used to refer to the heat exchanger form factor last used in '74 (in the US). As you can see from the Pelican page that Al pointed you to, there are many different flange configurations all using the 74 style exchanger. And as Al pointed out, you need the ones for a 2.7 ('75-'77) with Thermal Reactors.

Thanks guys.

I had looked on Pelican before, but did not find the page linked to by Al lkomsal. I will keep my eye out for a set of used, if I do not find any before 'driving season', I will probably end up buying new.

Does your car still have thermal reactors? If not maybe someone changed them to thin flanges all ready. The best way to tell is to look under your car and see what you have. My engine is from a 77 which would of had thermal reactors which are long gone. Someone replaced them with another type of exhaust with thin flanges.
