Lighter SC front rotors? Do they make anything like that?
Is there a lightweight front SC rotor on the market? I did a quick google search and couldn't find any.
I don't want to start changing calipers or anything but would love to have a lighter rotor, even if it didn't last very long. Autocross specific car and sees less than 400 minutes of use per season. Thank you in advance for your time Mike

In the Porsche world the original '64 911 used M front calipers on solid unvented 20x 282mm rotors, depending on your struts these could probably be used going wider afield 280mm is a standard diameter available from multiple suppliers like AP & Brembo, they come in std thickness 7.1, 9.6, 16, 21mm solid. The Nascar boys use similar rotors on the superspeedways. A hat for them would be easy to fabricate, but again you would need to purchase the calipers to go w/

Thank you. I'll need to explore other options when this season is over.

If you wanted to go custom you could have someone like Coleman make you new rotor rings with aluminum hats. Probably not much weight savings on the front but could be significant enough to justify on the rear. Maybe they have a disk blank with wide cooling vents that you could machine really thin to minimize weight, since it's just short autox runs you probably don't need much thermal mass. Another cheaper option would be to go with earlier brakes that use the same diameter but thinner rotors, probably not much weight saving overall though if you do that.
