Need Help Picking Seats, 72' 911

I'm wanting to purchase some new Vintage style seats for my 1972 911, but here's the dilemma, I'm 6'5" with a 38" waist. So I'm looking for the best quality seat, that sits the lowest in a sunroof coupe and that will fit my fat ass. So what company and seat would people, with experience, suggest. Price is not a factor.

I like the styling of the RSR, Rennsport or Sebring form GTS Classics seats:
Renn Sport Seats - Renn Sport Car Seats
Sebring Car Seats - Sebring Seats
RSR Car Seats - RSR Seats

There's also Vintage "R" seat to consider:
VintageSeats.com

I'd appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

Eric

Can't really help you by direct experience, but once you decide which seat, you may want to ask them if the particular seat can be modified to fit you better? Just a thought. Nice choices!

krommetall, I would suggest you take your time and actually sit in as many different seats as you can before purchasing.
I assumed that early sport seats, replicas, were what I needed for my 73' T Coupe. When I finally received the seats, they didn't, "just bolt in" and after much juggling & bracket mods, I discovered
that they were really uncomfortable. I ended up re-installing my old seats and selling the new ones at a loss.

I would definitely sit in them all first but that would be difficult unless you go to a car show where they all would be. I will tell you this. I am 6'1" and 180 lbs. I purchased an RS driver and an R passenger from Michael at VintageSeats.com for my 69 coupe. They installed very easily. They are more sturdy and comfortable than my factory seats. The factory seats I had were not sport seats. The springs were shot thus I was sitting too low and bouncy. For you too big. I would choose a seat that you like aesthetically and then have them built for YOU. That's the only way someone your height and width is gonna get a repop sport seat to be comfortable and have the bolsters the right width for you. Michael is great to work with.

Since you are so tall you will want a seat that has a good rake to it, or you will need recliners. It seems that most of the vintage seats that are sold today have a lot of rake so they might work, not sure about the width though. Don't forget Cobra as they have an rs and an rsr seat, along with a few other vintage seats. The big seat companies seem to be coming out with more of these vintage looking seats now. If price is not a factor, then Michael with build it for you.

i have recaro idealz in my 71 coupe. they are very similar to the first generation? of highback sport seats. but, they have the low back with adjustable headrests.they seem to be quite rare and seldom come up for sale. they are adjustable and very comfortable. highly recommended if you could find one!

First off, I appreciate everyone’s feedback. Very valuable information. Yes, I would love to have the chance to try multiple seat configurations, but where I live, that's not possible. So, in the long run, I'll have to make some calls and see what my best options are.

Bob H., I appreciate that you posted pictures. That does help a lot! The seats you bought are exactly what I was thinking on buying. I presume that you bought the mounts/tracks from Vintage, right? I may need to buy the complete kit. I currently have a set of corbeau and they worked for the last 15 years, but it's time to bring the car back the classic look and feel.

Once again, thanks to everyone!
