Question What would you do (and how would you do it?; window stuff...)

After re-greasing the window motor on my '83SC, I am wondering the best way to reattach the gear cover.

I've got liquid gasket, but the edge of the motor housing is very narrow/thin, and therefore I am worried that some gasket can seep into the gear teeth - not a good thing.

The original gasket is a bit crispy, but looks serviceable with an application of liquid gasket as well.

The other thing is that the cover plate will probably have to be attached with a bit of JB Weld or similar at the round attachment points.

How would you close it up? I don't want to go thru this again (wait, this is from my passenger door, I've got a whole 'nother door to rehab...). Please relate any other experiences in this area, they are welcome as I continue my door rehab...

Thanks, Pelicans!

I would buy gasket material and cut my own.

I wouldn't used any semi liquid material that could drop and solidify within the gear case.

Interesting! Would window weld (comes in a roll, pliable, about the consistency of silly putty) serve as "gasket material"?

My thought exactly on getting stuff in the gear case...
