99% sure they were a factory option when I sold new Porsches in the 80's- definitely they were standard eguipment on turbo. I am toying with idea of putting them on my SC coupe- IMHO they are only right on dark-colored car where they are subtle. They are definitely cosmetic- my 20 year old paint has chips everywhere but there.
