Cruise Control

Does anyone have a wiring schematic for an 84 Carrera cruise control? I drive long stretches of flat, straight Interstate, and keeping the UTF (Urge to Fly) under control can be difficult. When I got my car 2 years ago, the cruise worked, but has gradually deteriorated.
I suspect the micro switch, but need to trace it out.
Any help would be appreciated!
Robert

If your speed drops off slowly I bet it is the module in the trunk up forward under a cardboard cover. I found a used one on ebay for $65.00 and it did the trick. Also you can find places that will repair yours.

Pelican Parts at one time had the Porsche cruise control ECU as a rebuilt listed in the
catalog. You might check there or call a sales person if it's not listed.

This is not the first time Bentley has come up. Where can you get one?

Try a search on Amazon.com, that is where I got mine!

Here's a link:
http://www.amazon.com/Porsche-911-Carrera-Service-Manual/dp/0837616964/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1394671627&sr=8-6&keywords=Bentley+Porsche

OR: Because our host is Pelican try a search at the top of this screen, where it says SEARCH.

That way, it helps Wayne keep our wonderful resource available to all.

Hope this helps!

I can often tell when my clutch switch is the problem by putting my foot under the pedal and lifting up on it while driving... If that makes the CC work then it's highly likely the switch is just out of adjustment.

Nine times out of ten, the problem is the cruise control unit module and not switches etc. Easiest troubleshooting method is find a 911 (78-86) friend who has a working cruise control unit and swap it with yours, makes a long story short. If you find you have a bad or marginal control unit, you can have yours repaired for $79.00. Just search on Ebay for 911 cruise control and you will find the ad. They are located in Tenn and do lots of electronic units for various cars.

"re-flow" those solder joints in the unit (where the plugs are received).. Add fresh solder to these points, and see where that gets you. Fixed my problem right up.

The module is attached by two screws and a simple plug.

I contacted DME rebuilder in Florida. They do cruise control modules, so I'm going to give them a try. They say 3-5 days turnaround, but it's got to get from Arizona to Florida and back. I'll repost when it comes back. I will also order a Bentley's!

Nor sure if it will help, I have a servo out of an SC. I'd let it go for a few bucks plus shipping.

"Here's the cruise unit repair"

So now maybe eBay has a Porsche forum like Pelican Parts to help Porsche owners, right?

Get over it! Just trying to be helpful, as most of us are on a budget. Yes, Pelican does offer a rebuild service by a contractor, but it's $292.50 vs the same service for $79.00
We my be loyal to Pelican, but we're not stupid!
