Man..that's old school.

Many impellers are done on 5 axis CNC machines now..

BTW...that turbo in the video was the first single turbo I have on my Supra. Turbonetic T-66.

I was blown away with how manual the build is. I'd have thought that it was less "file and fit." But then turbos have been around for decades - before modern machining techniques. Fascinating. Thanks for sharing.

The sad, bad news is that a forced induction engine must be derated in off-boost mode.

The F150 V6 EcoBoost engine, were it not for having to accomodate boost mode, could have a CR of 12:1, maybe even 14:1.

That results in relatively poor FE 98% of the time.

Nothing sad and bad about a powerful, relatively fuel efficient engine.

Have you seen the Saab tech of variable compression engines with turbochargers? Old news/tech to the problem you describe.
