Just want to post some feedback I got on my LED's:

"This weekend I put in your Vintage White LED's. My preference is for the White LED's but I wanted to try the Vintage first as I was unsure of how fragile the LED's might be with my heavy handed installation technique.

Everything working a charm.

I did not take a picture of the LED's from the alternative source, but I can tell you, yours are much brighter, and have a slide wider dimming range. I will put the white ones in due course.

Here are a couple of pictures taken in a moderately sunlight garage."

I had a few questions regarding how to point the LED's during install.

I made up this little graphic, that shows how to point the LED's, so that the side LED's give the best light.

Basically the side LED's point 90 deg to the outside wall of the instrument. Example on the clock is the only one light at 12h so the side LED's should point left and right.

Nice work engelbert I will be ordering shortly

When I go to your website and click order the only option is for "bright white" so do you still offer "vintage white" sets?

Thanks!

David

Just want to post some feedback I got from a buyer in Australia.

HI ENGELBERT,

THE LED’S ARRIVED YESTERDAY ALL WELL AND GOOD.

I TESTED THEM LAST NIGHT ON MY SPEEDO AS I CURRENTLY HAVE ALL THE GAUGES OUT DOING A REFURBISHMENT ON THEM.

THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT……THE DIFFERENCE IS LITERALLY LIKE NIGHT AND DAY……I CAN FINALLY SEE WHAT SPEED I AM DOING AT A GLANCE INSTEAD OF HAVING TO SQUINT AND LOOK FOR THE NEEDLE.

ACTUALLY , I HAD ALREADY INSTALLED EL WIRE AROUND THE INSIDE PERIMETER OF MY GAUGES AND IN MY OPINION IS THE BEST WAY OF ILLUMINATING THESE GAUGES , I LOVE THE WAY YOU GET A TOTALLY EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF LIGHT ACROSS THE FACE OF THE GAUGE WITHOUT ANY SHADOWING. HOWERVER , IT WAS A TEDIOUS , FIDDLY AND TIME CONSUMING JOB HAVING TO UNCRIMP THE OUTSIDE BEZZEL , TAKE THE INSIDE OF THE GAUGE TOTALLY APART THEN RECRIMP AND PAINT THE BEZZEL WITHOUT DEFORMING IT. IF ANYTHING EVER GOES WRONG WITH THE EL WIRE INSIDE THE GAUGES I WILL NOT BE REDOING THEM NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR LED’S. IN FACT I WILL BE RUNNING BOTH SYSTEMS SO I CAN JUST SWITCH BETWEEN THE TWO WHEN DESIRED.

ONCE AGAIN THANKYOU FOR A GREAT PRODUCT AND HOPE TO GET YOU A FEW MORE SALES “DOWN UNDER” AFTER SOME FRIENDS SEE THE RESULTS.

Cheers
Engelbert

Very impressive LED lights, Englebert. I tried to find out also whether your LED lights are dimmable with the stock dash potentiometer but I could not find information about that. Are your LED's dimmable?

rothaus 08-02-2014 04:42 PM

Yes, they are dimm, see the video Kevin did after instaling them in his 914.

It works in my car as well.

New LEDs installed. Just wanted to say, finally had the chance to install the set from Engelbert, including blue and green - WOW, I can SEEEEE!

Very cool, and no issues installing them either (less fighting to get one old one out of the back of the gauge). Let the night fall I say!

Thanks Engelbert and well done.

Thanks for the good feedback SmileWavy

I'm glad they worked out as expected.

I also opened a Feedback thread for any questions, comments, tips, suggestions, etc..

LED Gauge lights

Just want to let you know, I still have the bright white and vintage white BA7s Dash LED lights available, as well the red and green for the High beam and parking light indicator.

I will soon have a set for testing for the 964 / 993 gauges.

Cheers

Clock LED Comparison

I purchased the Etarga LED kit and have been very happy with it but the clock always left a lot to be desired. No fault of the LED but the design of the lighting for the clock itself with only one bulb to light the entire gauge.

Englebert was nice enough to sell me just the bulb for the clock which as I figured it was worth a side by side comparison. He included the spacer since these bulbs are twice as long and a foil if necessary (I didn't need to use it).

Attached are four shots, two direct head on and two from the side. There seems to be a little difference head on with a slight advantage to these bulbs. From the side because you do see the refraction throughout the entire gauge it is much more noticeable to the eye even though the picture makes it look brighter but slightly washed out.

I'm purposely not saying which is which in order to not to insert subjectivity to it, and forgive the fact it's not the low light capability on the phone is not so great.

I just got Engelbert's LED lights and wow!! I can see!! What a great upgrade for very reasonable price!! The difference is like night and day. Shipping was super fast as well. Have to agree with TAG about the clock needing another light though.

Thanks for the feedback SmileWavy

I know the clock is the most difficult instrument to illuminate, did you try to rotate the LED ? The Bulb in the clock is at the 12h position, and the LED work best when they point left and right, and the spacer is needed.

Your gauges look the same as mine in the SC.

Engelbert

HRO 10-24-2014 07:41 AM

Engelbert,
No, I have not rotated the LED yet. Thanks for info. I will try that tomorrow. This is not fault of your LED at all though. I think it just needs one more light in the bottom.

I agree that you need the spacer for the clock. Without it, it does not illuminate at all.

Just ordered a set of vintage 911 + B & G from you.

Look forward to getting a big lighting upgrade!

Thanks for making these available.

Best,
Lars
