Light switch stuff ... but slightly different
Smoke came out from under the dash in the vicinity of the light switch on my 1981 911SC Euro coupe last evening. It looks like one of the black wires with the blue stripe caught fire and burned for about four inches. The burning stopped as soon as I shut off the headlight switch.
About a week ago, the high/low beam stalk control on the steering column would only allow the high beams to work unless I held the stalk towards me. (I replaced this about 15 years ago). I'm puzzled as to why I would get sufficient enough heat in the black/blue stripe wire to cause it to burn. Fuses were all intact. Any help would be most welcomed. Thanks! ![]() |

This will address the headlight switch issue. It's a good idea to add headlight relays as well.
