Engine Drop after 4 years thinking about it (part 2)

Following on from my original post I thought it about time to present an update. Pictures in no particular order, and no explanations added. I know how much the board likes pictures!

Very nice work. There is nothing as pretty as detailed components!

Cheers

Engine back in and running beautifully. Took 14 litres of oil to get good level on dipstick which surprised me. Pictures feast attached:

That's all just now folks. If anyone wants a picture of anything specific please ask.

Thank you to all the forum members and contributors without whom I wouldn't have had the courage to attempt this. No invasive engine work - maybe another day.

Also thanks to Pelican and my American colleague who has acted like a pack mule carrying parts across the Atlantic in his cabin baggage!

Sweet Jesus, it looks like you took every single step along the "Slippery Slope" that so many of us are trying to avoid. It looks like it just stepped off the showroom floor, just excellent work.

Congrats on a job well done.

WOW!

Looks great!
And the pictures of the lift table, engine stand, chain hoist and vehicle lift give me something to budget for!

Just noticed in this picture that in the background you can see my clutch bleeding jig. Again I'm sure I read about this on pelican, but it allowed the new slave cylinder to be bled before installation on the bellhousing. Very handy. I would recommend.

Beautifully done. Calling this an "engine drop" thread doesn't do it justice. Congrats!

Slippery slope - it certainly was, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I haven't worked on cars for years, and was I like a pig in ***** from start to finish.

Engine fired first time (well after 30 seconds cranking), good oil pressure, oil pressure and alternator lights out, and no oil drips on the floor.

Thanks for the kind words.

Perfection! I am dimbstruck by how excellent your work is. I guess the engine took 14 litres due to your replacement of all the oil lines. That does not sound out of line.

Now can I send my 3.2 over to Scotland for the same treatment? LOL.

Keep up the good work.

Targalid 07-01-2014 07:45 AM

I like the oil drain fixture with the safety latch. Where did you get it?

Jesse16 07-01-2014 10:51 AM

Fumoto for the oil drain valve.

tobluforu 07-01-2014 11:20 AM

Damn clean looking, almost don't want to get her dirty its so nice.

TheSt|G 07-01-2014 11:28 AM

Perfection. :D

I suspect I will be leaping off the slippery slope with the same fervor when I finally need to drop my engine. Thanks for sharing, and I love that you kept it stock in appearance!
