901 Transmission cover clutch cable hole is no more...
Any suggestions for repairing my worn 901 case (short of the obvious of buying a new billet cover)? The hole for the clutch cable sheath is totally worn through (see pic).
I was considering grinding the old material off to make it flat, drilling a pair of shallow holes and tapping to install a new bushing. ![]() fix?: ![]() Thanks, Karl |

I would suggest putting a want-to-buy (WTB) ad on the classifieds for a good used side cover. Shouldn't be too expensive, as there's a lot of 901 transmissions lying around. Then you can use the existing side cover for "practice" to work on your drill-block idea.
If all else fails, CMS seems to have the best deal going for the billet side plate. California Motorsports Porsche 901 911 914 transmission section

Mine looked like that when I got my '71. I found a welder who fixed it. 30 years later it is still good.
