The actual under carpet or just the mats?

If mats, our host sells the custom Lloyds, just got them and they fit great and have the anti slide buckles, love that my mat does not slide around and they are rubber bottoms, also nice. Maybe too heavy for AX,DE or track.

Several folks on this forum have used Lakewell and have been pleased.
They are located in Belgium, but I priced a complete carpet set from them, and even with the shipping from Europe, their price was competitive. Check the carpet pics on their site, and you'll see the closest to the original reproduction that you will find. (i.e the black backing on floormats is same as original.)
They sent me some fabric samples for color comparison gratis. I am not quite ready for carpet yet in my "refresh" job, but I will definitely order from Lakewell when I'm ready.
Check them out.

Check our Pelican host for carpeting. I recently purchased a set from them to include headliner, door panels and trunk carpet (they have all kinds of material and qualities) for a '73 911. I had an upholsterer install it and HE said it was of excellent quality, some of the best he has seen. And their prices were reasonable.

I just installed a kit in my Cabriolet from Appbiz. The owner (Robert) was very helpful and quickly answered questions. I went with the shorter plush at Robert's recommendation for my Cabriolet. He also offers the Slivernit if you want to go original. Be prepared to do some cutting to fit some of the pieces but overall I though it was a fairly easy install. Robert told me the Slivernit was easier to work with than the plush but I didn't find it too bad. I kept all of my original pieces to match up the pieces in the new kit then I was able to use them to fit the new pieces. They also came in handy protecting the new carpet while I was spraying glue.

BTW, if you need some spray glue, I have 2 cans left over that I'd sell for what I have in them. I bought my glue on Ebay and got it for quite a bit less than I could find anywhere else. FWIW, I used 3 cans.

Ok, at the risk of really showing just how much I don't know.........

Is there suppose to be carpet under the matts? I ask this basic of questions because our matts are just sliding around on the coated floors and get all bunched up. To be honest, it is rather annoying and I was just recently thinking of a viable solution, new matts, carpet, glue, etcetera. Not to sure on what the correct path would be. I was very glad to see this topic by the OP, for that I want to say "Thanks"

I installed a Sliverknit carpet set from Autos International in a client's '87 Cab. last year.
First time I have installed carpet.

Very straight forward install if you are a hands-on, patient, detail oriented person.

I was happy with the fit of the carpet/pattern. The edge binding was nice quality.

A few minor details weren't 100% true to original (such as the elastic supports for the carpet in folding rear seat backs) but were minor items.

Ask for samples of the carpet, as we recieved "Sliverknit" from a few places, and some were much different looking pile.

@Bugstrider, the "carpet" from Porsche on the 911 series cars in the foot box/floor area is not glued to the floor. It is essentially a loose mat. In some years there was a provision to anchor it to the floor. On most it just sits there like a mat.

Aftermarket mats (like Lloyd's) just sit on top of the removeable carpet piece. Aftermarket mats typically come with some type of anchoring system.

As I understand it, no. I spray glued some Velcro to my wood panel at the pedals and I'm going to adhere some toward the back of the two mats to keep them from sliding. If I have trouble keeping the Velcro on the mat, I'm going to sew it on.

App Biz does good work. I went with the RS lightweight perlon, wore a hole under my heels, added cocomats.
