Thanks Chuck, and thanks for the Link I see it’s on for half price I’m placing my order.

I just noticed they have 36 sq. ft or 50. I ordered the 50.

Nice project!

Been doing a lot of front suspension and brake work. The brake rebuilds.....not that fun. So I took a diversion and installed my Rennline strut braces today. Nice kit. Happy owner.

Now back to the dirty work 😐

The Watson 06-11-2021 06:23 AM

Front suspension and brakes completely redone. New Rebel RSR bushings, Rennline monoball strut mounts, ball joints, and brake lines, turbo tie rods, bump steer kit, Koni classic adjustable struts, new wheel bearing, bullet-nose lugs, cross-drilled directional rotors, rebuilt calipers, Porterfield R4-S pads, new master cylinder, etc etc. Now, back to the interior.....carpet time. And the dreaded melted dash wires.

RS carpet mostly installed. A few wrinkles to address later as the carpet seems to expand when it dries overnight. Overall happy with it. Now I need the glass guy to finally show up

I really like your carpet install and I'm looking for something similar for my 77 911 Targa.

Can you tell me more about your carpet? Where did you source it? Was it a big deal to install? I saw the post on the underlay and link, thanks!

The Watson 06-18-2021 01:01 PM

It was not a horrible job if you take your time. I worked about 2 to 3 hours on three different days. I purchased the carpet from appbiz which I think is also available directly through pelican. There are a lot of good videos and online resources to show you how to do it. My only trouble was the fabric moving after I laid it down, but that is solvable. Best of luck.

Windshields in and roll bar installed (only 6.5 years after the test fit!).

This is such a pretty car. Love your details and great pictures.
I may have missed it - what rollbar did you use?
Greetings from the Raleigh area.

The Watson 07-26-2021 07:38 AM

Thanks ToySnake! The roll bar is from Das Sport. It fit very well. It is pretty heavy however. I hate that Luftgekuhlt got moved from Raleigh - hope it comes back there next year.

Fingers crossed it does return to the Bull City next year. I imagine that the Ingrams would hold some sway for bringing it back to Durham. Hope to see this project there next year! Patrick

Start the engine?

It was time to go ahead and give it a go! Fuel added, check. No fuel leaks, check. Carb linkages smooth, check. Build oil pressure, NOPE! I was 99.9% sure I forgot the two sealing rings on the oil pump as I took a picture shortly before mating the case halves that did not show them there. DEPRESSING REALIZATION. I bought a cheap boroscope to check for sure. And, whatayaknow, I could just barely see their beautiful green hue peeking through. Ok, so WTF? After lots more reading and thinking I found this beauty in my oil cooler return line:

That did it!

Now I have pressure. Next, this!

So, in short, I went from devastation to elation in a few hours of work.

75 911s 12-07-2022 02:53 PM

haha, oh man. Was that a wadded up paper towel in there?

The Watson 12-07-2022 02:56 PM

Yeah. Exactly. Something to plug it up temporarily. What kind of idiot misses that on reassembly? This one.

75 911s 12-07-2022 03:42 PM

Build looks great. Got a wide shot of this bad boy on the ground?

Thanks. Nothing decent to share that’s new. Wheels and exterior are among last items to be addressed.

Gotta ask: Did you have an extra set of unused O-rings that were left over?

Yes I did, which I thought was strange. But I have a hodgepodge of leftover parts.

You should see what happens when you forget and leave one in the carb stack........
