Oil Pressure Sender

Another question for everyone... 1982 SC targa and uncertain on the year of the engine.

Am I missing an oil pressure sender? I see it in some photos but not in others.

This is a photo of my engine:

Just looked up my engine numbers: 1980 SC

I don't see anything that looks like an Oil Pressure sender front to back...

Just saw your post on the year.
it appears you are missing the block and sender that are usually there.

Cool, it is a ROW engine with lower compression and larger port heads.
Higher HP and torque as well.

Thanks! That's a nice detail I was not aware of and makes a little more sense of the dyno sheets I have for the car...

This has been SUPER HELPFUL! I can scratch two things off of my list.

Yes, I can. Will have to do it when I get home from work. I looked it over pretty closely and didn't see anything that looked like the oil pressure sender.

But.... I am also new to this and could be missing something.

Tried installing the new oil pressure sender last night and found that the cam oil line was a bit too long. I cut 3/8 of an inch off of the hard portion of the line that inserts into the oil pressure sender. Everything will now bolt up no problem.

My question is around the cutting ring. I have a new one to install and need to know if they are to be pressed on to the oil line or will the simple act of bolting everything together press the ring onto the oil line?

Best to mark the length carefully and fully tighten in a vice to ensure you have the ferrule fully compressed on the hard line also saves any strain on the case doing it this way.

The correct line is shorter, but it looks like that'll work.
