MFI Adjustment Tools

Bought a set of Bosch MFI tools a while back and I'm having a problem with the partial load adjustment tool fitting into the hole. I'm able to remove the cap with the allen type tool, but when I insert the long flathead screwdriver, it seems to catch about 1/8" into the hole - like it is too wide. This weekend I'm going to grind down the sides of the head to make it narrower, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem. It seems strange to me that Bosch would sell a tool that needed modification to work, am I doing something wrong here?

Brad

Something isn't right. I'm cheap so I always just used a thin screwdriver. It is about 3" long and the tip was only about 1/8". I know it slid at least 1 1/2" into the hole.

Brad,

My part-load adjustment screwdriver from PP also had to be ground down in width to go into the hole. Not sure why.

Once inside, works fine on the internal screw.

For what it's worth, my MFI pump is from a '73 2.4S modified with the 2.7 space cam.

Hope this helps.

JA

Porsche Crest

The MFI tools aren't sourced by Bosch, so, different batches from Hungary, Yugoslavia, Poland, etc. are on the market, and variations in dimensions are to be expected!

Yup, I had the same problem. I was going to post something about it here but a couple of minutes with a file solved the problem.

Cheers,
Jim

Yah I was on my way to do that, but I thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone else had this wierd mis-sized tool, or if there was another allen-capped hole that I was supposed to be sticking this thing into Time to get out the file tonite...
