Maybe it was because you didn't get a model release before posting his photo?

Painters can be a bit crazy...

Cool project and nice rotisserie.

Kevin is in Van Nuys I think- you should be able to reach him via the Paint and Bodywork section of Pelican. His handle is KevinP73.

John Esposito is next to TLG in North Hollywood.

Here's Kevin: Automotive Innovations and Restoration | autoinno | Los Angeles Porsche Body and Paint

Not to be confused with any other company with AIR in the name.

You might be a better fit with John Esposito though.

I have no good resources...but a crazy war story

The respray on my car, from Cashmere Beige to Guards Red (stupid) in 1994 was done by a guy outside San Diego.

According to the PO it took a year. He took the car apart (idk why considering the engine bay and trunk are still beige) after taking a deposit, let it sit 3 months, then demanded more money to prep, then continued this process until complete.

PO had no technical skill or means to move the car so got nailed to the wall for a year and received a SChiutty paint job at that.

Unbelievable

My first car - ahem, an old Audi (this was back in the '80s) waited on the side of the painters shop for six months. Every time I went there (which was a lot for a teenager who wanted to drive) the painter always had some trumped up story on how he was taking helicopter lessons and going to leave the paint business.

I remember it was like pulling teeth, every time I went over there were more and more heli books, the paint booth shut, more stories. Eight months later he called me to tell me the car was ready - but he ended up being at least a little fair by knocking off like $300 (which was a lot to me in the '80s). Sure enough he flipped out after he finished my car, parked all the other work he had outside, bought a helicopter and flew west. These paint guys are a unique bunch.

If we sucked in those fumes all day long we'd think we were flying helicopters too!
