Chain tensioners done?
Kind of new to the board and have just been lurking 'til now. Love the board.
I have an 83SC Targa. I bought 19 months ago at 72k and it now has 91k. I did not know about PPI's and such when I bought so just went on my knowledge and fortunately got lucky with a great car. The one thing I don't know is how to tell if the chain tensioners have been upgraded or not. Is there a simple way to tell without tearing it apart? With it hitting 90k I am starting to worry a little because I keep reading about how bad it is if they go. I have downloaded the threads that discuss it and tell how to do it but they never mention how to tell if it was done. Help!! |

If the tensioners have been upgraded to the carerra oil-fed type, there will be brass colored oil lines running down the timing chain covers. These lines terminate in two "bolts" which screw directly into the front of the covers.
