How serious is crankcase breather hose oil leak?

I have oil leaking from the top of my engine from around the crankcase breather hose area. I'm not 100% sure where it's coming from as it seems there are a few common spots that leak from that area and I can not see back there.

My question is how serious are these leaks? Is it something I need to take care of right away or is it something that can wait as it seems it requires an engine drop?

Thanks

Wacko,

depends on the amount of oil that it leaks and your tollerance to oil patches on the garage floor ;-)
When I droped my engine to care for oil leaks, it had a really thick layer of oil/dirt crude at the back, although it ran fine. I would say it's not a problem to wait until you have time.

do you have too much oil in it?

might be a sign the rings are bad. bad rings cause oil blow by.

could also be the T stat or the sending unit leaking.

i believe that area is called the triangle of death due to the 3 seams that come together and leak oil

problem is, that it will start to clog the engine oil cooler fins and it looses important oil cooling patential.

second, the oil can access the tranny and ruin it.

heres is my odyssey
911SC oil leakage from top - easy acess?

You would be shocked to see how much oil goes through that breather hose. The vent is right above the crankshaft and lots of oil gets slung into it. I have a -16AN hose going from my breather straight back to my oil tank on the race car. I suggest fixing it ASAP to save a large mess.
