Had to turn the engine over a few times before finding any damage to the crank.

Was the broken rod bolt Porsche OEM as far as you can tell?

Rod bolt broke..probably OEM reused...not the best idea on a 3.2. Always use new hardware and have the rods "reconditioned" at a competent machine shop.Connecting Rod Bolts « RACEWARE Engineering

Wow, I thought my 3.3 with a spun rod bearing was a mess inside - sorry...

Factory rod bolts stretch permanently to achieve desired tension and are one-use only. This is pretty common for stock rod bolts on many auto engines.... That said, stock ones are the weak link of the entire 3.2/3.3 motor - the SC has bigger rod bolts - but usually fine for most people unless/until over-rev'd (aka "the moneyshift").

ARP rod bolts (and almost certainly Raceware too, but do your own checking) are re-usable, unless stretched beyond their point of elasticity, either in service or when fitting. Which shouldn't happen. They're made from better material and are stronger than the factory part.

A&F, I think that you should post the name of the shop that did the rebuild.
Think of it as a public service.

A shop did the rebuild and reused stretch bolts???? That's not a shop, that's a dumb ass shade tree job.

QSC - expect to require work to fit. They dimensionally are correct except for the external width so you'll need to shave down the fins. They use snap rings to retain the wrist pins and the pistons are not as pictured; they're cast CIS replica.

Something to avoid? I'm shocked at how, "affordable" they are.

All I've found so far is that iron cylinders weight 30lbs more total and heat differently (good way or bad way?).
