lacking fuel?

have a 1982 911, has been running great, till the last couple of trips.
starts great ,but starting to accelerate,is lacking power and seems like it is running out of fuel, can hear pump running,, sometimes on restart it will run ok, other times same issue , what should the fuel pump pressure be? is there something in the fuel tank that could restrict the flow, tank was recently out?

Sounds like classic symptoms of a clogged up fuel filter!

CIS tank has large (22 mm) screw in fine mesh filter in swirl pot. You have to have lots of particulate to clog that up. Good time to remove fuel level unit and look into the tank with a flashlight for sign of rust particles in the tank.

Fuel filter change good idea. CIS requires CLEAN fuel and changing filters at shorter intervals never hurts.

Fuel distributor another possble issue as well as injectors.

Gotta love that CIS.....take it one step at a time.

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and check your system fuel pressure. If you could get a system fuel pressure reading between 65 - 75 psi., then your fuel filter/s are not contributing to this problem. The FP itself could be the culprit too. So checking the delivery pressure of the FP is another thing you have to consider. Test and confirm.

Check the frequency valve relay commonly referred as OXS relay located under the passenger side seat.
