Power lead to ciggy lighter broke off the back....
Anyway to retrieve the power lead WITHOUT having to disassemble all the stuff in the trunk?
Can I pull the glove box out and access from there? I tried to grab it thru the lighter hole with a 4 jawed thingy, no joy..... ![]()

Oh boy. That is a tough one. I never had good luck with the glove box. I always had to go through the trunk.

Anywhere I can access the power lead, clip and add an extension and then snake it thru? Not like I need the lighter but the live wire bouncing around back there and the power port is nice to have for the Hella accessory map light I have. The Hella does fit the American power port.
Edit: Per Bentley, it's a black wire and it tees off the blue wire from fuse 13.....anyone know where the junction is for the blue wire that fresh air blower which is red/wite?

I just went off of the fused power side of the ciggy fuse and ran a new primary wire to the socket. Since you have to get to the socket in your case anyway, you really aren't saving any work. It's easy once you get access to the back side of the socket.

Not sure, but if you look at the back of the fuse box cover, you'll see which fuse/ circuit it is. Then it's just a matter of using a test light and unplugging them one at a time.

Trick in getting to cigarette lighter?
Found this thread.....Is there any way to grab it from the gauge hole and then snake it thru put a crimp on it? How long does it take to pull the blower parts to get to the power wire?

Oh Geez M,
Sorry to write there is no easy way, it will take couple of hours to remove the blower components to get clear access. Just take careful notes on any wiring yo have to disconnect. I screw up my fog light switch which is connected to the locking system had to pull everything apart, not a good thing ![]()

I can see the bugger when I pulled the gauge where the clock used to be......too much crap in the way to get my hand back there.
I bet I can access it thru the radio....but requires special slide in tool to remove. It is right next the glove box.....but the box fastener is under the glove box door. Anyone ever remove the glove box and prior to that the door??

It's not difficult, just one of those go slowly and take your time type of jobs.

You know this but don't forget to disconnect the battery. sitting in the trunk cramps you legs so take breaks. Basically it is a puzzle, twisting and angling the components out, the hoses are very fragile. Be a gentle :-) brother, she's an old lady.

You have to access it from the trunk. There is a sheet metal bulkhead between the cockpit and the trunk and the glovebox and radio are inside the cockpit. The instrument holes and the dash vent are the largest holes you'll find.

Started thinking.....I don't use the lighter but want a working larger euro diameter port in the dash that works for the Hella map light......so I fished a wire thru the port hole and was able to grab it and fish it to the area behind the gauges.
I have an American port under the dash. I plan to tee the power there and put an inline fuse so that if the dash port draws to much it will pop. Thinking 7.5 amps. Any "hey, that's stupid" observations? ![]()

I ran a direct feed to mine using a 10 amp fuse and 10 gauge wire. Always hot, very convenient. Taped off the original wire.
Had to install the wire on there by reaching through the frunk. One piece of ducting to the dash vent had to come out. |

Not so hard to remove the blower unit - just did this a while back and installed a marine grade cigarette lighter that fits all my accessories much better. To be honest - I was mad I didn't do it earlier.
