Hello, I have a tube coming off of the CIS intake that connects to the exhaust tube going around the front of the engine. What does this tube do? Do I need it? I believe I have it on one of my motors but not the other.
Sorry for the first two pictures. They are upside down. The tube goes to the bottom of the front of the motor. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance for any help. -P

EGR (exhaust gas recycle).........
Patrick,
That's the EGR for California cars. Check first before totally removing this device. It could be a mandatory smog device for your engine. Did you use to live in Santa Cruz? Or Santa (?) whatever. Can't remember!!!!! Tony |

Hey Tony, yep, Santa Cruz. I moved down for a job and stayed for a girl. Good to know about the EGR. I guess I'll keep it. I think I remember the smog guy saying this was missing on my other motor, but it passed the sniff test anyways and he ignored it.
Thanks for the info. Hope you're doing well. -P
