3.2 Engine reinstall preparations

I am preparing to reinstall my rebuilt 3.2 engine into our 1989 Targa. When I was on my back looking at the engine bay tonight my eyes focused on the nut in this picture and I cannot remember what attached to it?

I can't get under my car right now but I have plenty of pictures from different repairs and jobs underneath. It looks like that is used to mount the heater flapper box to the body.

in my '89 it doesn't attach to anything that I can recall - maybe you loosned it to allow the heater hoses some wiggle room to come off?

My 85 had nothing attached to the heat flapper box nuts.

This might be a dumb questions but did you loosen it? Maybe it was like that all along? Not that a nylock nut would back off by itself but maybe left that way by a PO at one point?
