My PMO ITB Project Begins
It's finally happening. My PMO Independent Throttle Body Injection with Electromotive engine management project is beginning. Actually, I will start work this weekend but my beautiful parts arrived today. The pictures don't do it justice as these are truly works of art. The stacks are much taller than I was expecting.
Here's a few starter photos. I will be documenting the project and posting progress from time-to-time. I'm expecting it to take 3 weeks an hoping for 2. It's possible it takes longer. Based on my reading of the installation instructions, the actual throttle bodies will be fairly easy. It's the building of the wire harness that is going to be time consuming. While I'm in there, I'm replacing the clutch, throw out bearing, pulley seal, trans input shaft seal, motor mounts, tunnel fuel lines and to the engine compartment lines, Elephant Racing trailing arm bushings. I think that will be enough for the rest of this year. All the Stuff: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What it's going in - 1974 911 ![]() |

Nice stuff.
Feel free to hit me up with any questions when you are building your harness. Happy to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here some recommendations; Take your time, better be late and started on the first (or second) cranking. When in doubt, ask. I'm guessing that you got the kit from C.E.? Richard, is very helpful. Electromotive also got a forum but nothing like this one. Can be days/weeks before you get an answer. Also there is a few mistake in the book/diagram. The wiring can be challenging and messy. A mix of push through and pull pin the connectors, so check twice and crimp once. When I installed it, I did not shorten the wiring. I just did it this winter. Also minimized the plugging of the 35 pin connectors into the ECU to avoid future problem. When I installed it, I did not shorten the wiring. I just did it this winter. Here is my biggest recommendation: The 8mm nuts for the adapter/stack have a 12mm hex head instead of the normal 13mm. Well even at 12 mm in some location (#4 inboard is the worse one) can not be thighten with a socket and hardly with a short wrench 1/16 turn at the time, let alone to be evenly torque to prevent finding of the butterflies (BTDT). Get some Jet Nut, the hex head is down to 10mm and are rated at 40 lb/pound of torque. See this thread for detail: M8 Jet Nut (Kay Nut) Sourcing

Beautiful, but my wife smacked me in the head because you used the dining room table. Thanks.
What are you using as a reference trigger? Richard's crank pulley trigger, cam sync, flywheel sync, or some other set up? Are you mounting the coil on the chassis or using Richard's trick crankcase vent mount? Here is a picture of my set up from Richard installed on a 3.6 in my 84 911: ![]()

That beautiful SSI manifold would make a great center piece for a nice dinner! My wife would throttle me.

BTW....if you decide to use the dishwasher to clean some parts....make sure the wife will be out for at least 4 hours....or suffer the consequences...LOL.

Why do you think it took so long for Vern to save up for this kit? Had he put the parts in the real dining room, the fur would have flown. Here is his breakfast nook in the real house. Just saying. He (they) knows better than to be that foolish. ![]() This is going to be a good thread. ![]()

I don't really have much of an update - yet. I've been taking my time with the wiring and the placement of the Electromotive computer and change my mind at least 5 times. I just don't want to start drilling holes that I regret later. In addition, I've been doing other projects at the same time (clutch, fuel lines, relocate fuel pump, suspension....).
Anyway, When I have some significant progress, I will start a more complete thread with photos from start to finish. One thing for sure, the actual PMO install is going to be very easy. The only difficult part is the wiring of the computer and that's not difficult, just time consuming. |
