964 power window problem
Hi,
The drivers side power window on my 91 964 has been working intermittantly and now it doesnt work at all. The switches are good. The motor costs a few hundred dollars and i dont want to buy it if something else could be the problem. Please let me know how to fix this problem. Thanks |

Do a search, The issue has popped up a few times recently.
Cliff notes: Remove the tweeter from the door panel, locate the motor's shaft and give it a whack with a hammer and screwdriver. Check for function. |

I just spent last weekend disassembling my driver's side door to determine what the culprit was for a window that would only go a quarter of the way down and would bind. My issue was that the window regulator was all contorted and busted up. Let me tell you, it's a pain the butt to get out even after taking the motor off the assembly. In the end, it only took about 2 hours to replace, but in the sweltering Texas heat, it felt a lot longer.
If you find that the motor is not functioning properly, let me know. I'll gladly sell off the motor for a lot less than a few hundred bucks. The used regulator I bought had a motor on it, and I tested it but ended up reusing my old motor. Jon |

964 power window
Very helpful , especially the hammer trick.
Tonight i tried to open the window and it didnt work, but i heard an electrical drop noise. I then banged it with a hammer and it miraculously worked. What is your take on this? Does the motor need replacement or is there something i can do to fix it? Jon, I may take you up on your motor offer. Thanks |
