G50 Shift Shaft Seal R&R - Bentley Error

I'm in the middle (literally) of replacing the shift shaft seal. In the Bentley guide it says:

Loosen bolt and push shift coupling forward off selector shaft.

You must must remove the bolt. I spent 45 minutes trying to force the coupling off the arm. The bolt goes all the way through the shaft. Foiled again by following directions. Doh!

Interestingly, when I pulled the rubber boot off, the old shift shaft seal pulled off with it (totally different than on a 915). I wonder if anything other than force could hold the seal to the case?

More news as I finish this project - so far, so good.
