Today's 959 Nugget: The 959 Owner's Manual...
I recently scanned a copy of the 959 owner's manual, and I have placed it on my 959 Registry site: http://www.959registry.org/
Enjoy! -Wayne

Thanks Wayne...
I had to laugh when I saw the photos. At the first glance of the format I thought it could have been any cars owners manual... Even a Toyota Corrola from the 80s. But when you look a bit closer... Enough said.

I like pages 15, 17, 26, 27, etc. Any pictures with the clock have it set at 9:59. Nice touch.

That's funny - is a wheel lock really necessary! ![]() |

So cool, I was going to ask you what all the warning and status indicator lights were on the gauges but there seem to be quite a few. Now I can just read it from the manual.
I like the towing page. Just in case you want to pull your next barn find home with your 959 at least you know the proper procedure. Classic. Last edited by willtel; 04-15-2009 at 08:06 AM.. |

Pretty hilarious that the 959 comes with a Granny Gear...they even put "G" on the shift knob!

the 959 is "Rally Ready" - hence the Granny Gear.

Thanks VERY much for the post.
I recent saw a copy of this manual for sale, and I was tempted, but didn't want to spend the $$$. I was curious how you got an English-language manual for a car not officially sold in the US, but then I saw "tyre"...oh, it's the Brit manual. Last edited by dw1; 04-15-2009 at 10:15 AM.. |

Wayne,
For your convenience, and the convenience of this community, I am in the process of combing the images into a single .pdf file. My thought was that you could add it to your 959 site. I will happily e-mail it to you, but I don't want to do this if you already have this type of e-copy! BTW, I did sort the images to have the .pdf pages in order Thanks for the big scan of "page 9" - the one with the gages & colored highlights. Very interesting stuff. |

There is just so much good stuff in this manual:
I really like the repeated references to driving slowly under certain conditions. Specifically "Slowly = maximum speed 80 km/h" That's 50 mph. When I see a "Slow Down" sign, or something urging me to drive slowly in a driveway or parking lot, I'll remember that. And the comment about wind noise: "Naturally these are more noticeable at 300 km/h than at lower speeds." Interestingly, conspicuous by its absence is the speed vs. time chart like the ones that appears in the manual for my '87 911. Last edited by dw1; 04-16-2009 at 07:38 AM.. |

No clue. A lot of this manual is a bit cryptic to me. I actually am more familiar with the workshop manual... -Wayne

[QUOTE=Wayne at Pelican Parts;4611544]
I seem to recall that some older European vehicles used to include "max gradient in each gear" information in the owners manual. It basically let the owner know that the engine couldn't pull the vehicle up a 30-degree slope in 5th gear. I was originally thinking it was something along those lines...

I have an original 959 Owner's Manual if anyone needs the real thing! Just give me a reasonable offer!
