Wheel arch trim?
I was poking around my 76 targa today which is fairly new to me (September purchase). I notice I had holes drilled around the inner wheel well arches on my car, which would likely have been for stainless wheel arch trim.
Was wheel arch trim available in 1976? Just wondering if these holes are factory or added later by a weekend warrior! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

My friend has a beautiful 76S with wheel arch trim. I believe that this was an option thru 1977.
regards, al

Thanks Al;
Does anyone know where I can buy some? Doesn't look like the host site sells them. |

Was the wheel arch trim screwed or riveted on?

Maybe it's time to sell your Porsche and buy a Cadillac.

Or maybe its time to cover up the obvious holes drilled in my inner wheel arches and put the car back to what it looked like coming from the Porsche dealer? I doubt it came off of a Cadillac lot brand new in '76.

I love the look, and am going to put the original mouldings back on for sure!

My car is silver so the contrast won't be dramatic.

The Cadillac comment was perhaps a little harsh? Definitely period correct on early cars.

^+1 but realize that some only care about the mechanical stuff (or vice versa) and can't appreciate the whole car.

It's their loss if some people can't comprehend how originality is the key to future values.
Imagine a guy back in the day with an old Spyder ripping everything off because he wants it to look like the newer 911 design? |

+1. Pretty tired of people taking anonymous shots at others thanks to the interweb. Is it too tough to be decent and keep derogatory thoughts to yourself?
Agreed that the trim is very period and rare.

I love any and all "bright" trim on most 911's. Especially if it's "true" to the car. Your car is just that, "yours", do what you like. Tired of guys saying, ditch this, do that, yada yada yada. I've got a 75 wide body, completely rebuilt 3.2, not original color, mirrors, fake Fuchs (took real ones off) two different deck lids, depending on mood and so on and so on. No rust at all and best of all, no smog. Put the trim on and wear it proud! Tim
