Periodically spraying rust-prone fasteners
What does the pelican braintrust think about spraying the flapper box nuts and other stuff on an every-so-often basis?
On my DD sacrificial anode I sprayed some stuff with a generic penetrating oil about a year ago on one side but I didn't do the other. When I finally got around to doing the job a year later the previously-treated nuts came off so much easier than the ones that only had a couple hours to soak... |

I'm also very frustrated with all the hardware on my car showing signs of corrosion.
One would think that there would be SOME plating that would look good and LAST. H*ll, the wrenches in my tool kit still look good, for heaven' sake. Why are all the fasteners on my car corroding? I have found that WD 40 helps. On exhaust related nuts and bolts I have found that anti-seize works wonders. I doesn't burn off and helps prevent rust.

You can get most nuts and bolts from our host with fresh zinc/cad coating. You can also have most fasteners re-coated by a local shop.
You can stave off more corrosion, help keep bolts tight and make them easier to remove later by using the proper Loctite-type product also.
